Gas, electric and induction, all under one call.
A burner that clicks without catching or a zone refusing to recognise a pan stops the kitchen. Gas work is carried out under licence rather than passed to someone else.
What we handle
Symptoms
Cooktops signal clearly when something is going. Reading the signal correctly is what prevents parts being ordered for nothing.
What you notice
What it usually means
Clicking but never lighting
Residue built up on the electrode, a fracture in its insulator, or moisture trapped beneath the burner cap.
Element staying cold
It comes down to the element, the switch it runs through, or a scorched socket at the connection point.
Induction zone ignoring the pan
A failed coil or power board. Occasionally the cookware, so we confirm with a pan we know works before quoting.
Yellow flame instead of blue
Fuel not burning cleanly, usually fouled ports or an air mix that needs setting. We treat this as a safety matter.
Dial no longer controlling heat
The switch behind it has lost the ability to cycle power, leaving full heat or none.
Any smell of gas
Stop using it and call. Anything involving a joint or a gas valve requires certification, and we move those bookings ahead of everything else.
The visit
Fuel type first. Gas, electric and induction need entirely different parts and preparation.
Every position gets its own test, the controls are measured while carrying current, and the loom behind the fascia comes under inspection. Zones share circuits more than people expect.
A figure up front, with a frank view on whether a high-end surface warrants what its components cost.
All positions fired, and where gas is involved the joints are tested for tightness before departure.
Codes
Compared with an oven, a cooktop says very little, but the few messages it does produce carry useful meaning.
The power boards for induction sit immediately beneath the surface and rely on air moving underneath them. A top fitted tight against a drawer, or with insulation packed underneath, keeps producing overheat warnings until that gap is opened up.
Brands
Everyday four-burner ranges through to wide professional tops. New builds out toward Laurelwood and Vista Hills are largely induction now, whereas the established neighbourhoods keep plenty of coil elements and sealed gas burners in service.
From customers
Back burner clicked endlessly and never caught. Electrode cleaned, switch swapped, and it catches first time every time.
One induction zone stopped seeing pans. He checked the ring, traced it to the board, and the component arrived by the following morning. Kept me posted throughout.
Where we work
Range and cooktop calls across the whole city. A reported gas odour is moved ahead of the schedule, since that is not something to leave overnight.
