Gas and electric, diagnosed in your kitchen.
An oven drifting thirty degrees off the dial ruins more than one dinner. We test under load rather than guessing, and gas work stays with licensed technicians.
What we handle
Symptoms
Ovens fail in recognisable patterns, and what you describe on the phone usually decides which part rides along.
What you notice
What it usually means
No heat whatsoever
On gas the igniter has weakened past the current needed to open the safety valve. With an electric oven, the lower coil has failed and no longer conducts.
Burnt underneath, pale on top
Temperature sensor drift or a thermostat out of calibration. The oven believes it is hotter than it is.
Preheat taking twice as long
The part has not died, it has simply lost most of its strength. It is a component on borrowed time rather than a healthy one.
Door locked shut after cleaning
The latch motor or its switch, stressed by three hours at self-clean temperature and now refusing to release.
Grill fine, bake dead
Separate elements on separate circuits. One working and the other not halves the diagnosis immediately.
Error code and no heat
The board has detected a sensor or relay fault and disabled heating rather than risk running blind.
The visit
Model, fuel type and what the display shows. Gas and electric need different preparation.
Element or igniter checked while drawing current, sensor compared against a reference reading.
The complete cost, including whether an ageing unit justifies the part price.
A full preheat runs before we leave, and gas connections get pressure-checked.
Codes
Ovens lock the door and show a code when the board detects something it cannot work around.
If the code appeared right after a self-clean run, say so when you call. That length of extreme heat loads the probe, the locking motor and the controller simultaneously, which reorders our diagnostic sequence.
Brands
Everyday ranges through to built-in wall ovens. Danby and Inglis are common in the rental stock around the universities, while the newer west-end kitchens lean toward Bosch and Miele.
From customers
Oven quit two days before we hosted twenty for a department dinner. Igniter was weak. Replaced and a full preheat tested before he left.
Everything was burning on the bottom for months. He recalibrated the sensor and showed me the probe reading against his own thermometer. Baking properly since.
Where we work
We take oven work any day of the week and into the evening, which tends to be exactly when a household finds out there is no heat.
